Once again stop the off topic bickering and return to the topic of the OP. If it continues, infractions will be issued. JayCT, Moderator

Trumbull is a great town. Now re the mall , wouldn't want my kids going at night......
Owned stores in most every mall in CT years ago. West Farms, Danbury, the best and safest. Waterbury, Milford, Trumbull not as much. Myself, always felt comfortable in all of them, but also knew plenty of people working in all of them....

Also, for even the worst crimes, looking at probability analysis, none are as rare as a lightning strike. Impossible.
While both are in Fairfield County, they are really completely different markets. The Trumbull mall has always had draconian security. I got hassled by security in the early 1990s while in high school. Without direct highway access, the Danbury mall is a world away. I've been there but a handful of times in my life. Why would someone who lives in say, Trumbull drive all the way to Danbury?

Huh? You can literally see the Danbury mall in its entirety from I-84. I’m not sure how that’s not direct highway access - it’s more accessible to a major interstate than the Trumbull mall.

Being completely different markets is exactly why Trumbull mall’s crime rate is what it is, unfortunately.

Trumbull is so much more than the mall. My son (also from Ridgefield) & daughter-in-law moved to the Twin Brooks area 7 years ago & now have 3 small children. They love all the town parks, the town pools, and they especially love the Pequonnock River Trail for running & nature walks with the kids. They like the easy access to the Bridgeport Zoo & it's Zoo Tots program. There is quick access to Connecticut's major highways, so they feel like they can get to anywhere easily. They're 15 minutes to the Bridgeport train station, which is convenient for friends in NYC who want to come visit. They're close to the Bridgeport ferry for getaways to Long Island. They like going into New Haven for museums. They enjoy the Connecticut State Park beaches for outings with the kids. They love Jones Family Farm in Monroe for produce, pumpkins, & Christmas trees. They've found good community through their church and the affiliated school. They have good access to all their shopping needs & services without ever setting foot in that mall. Most of all, the inhabitants are friendly & down to earth, so they've always felt at home in Trumbull. Trumbull, imo, is less corporate in feel than the western or southern FFC towns that are brimming with hard charging business people & their hard charging life styles.

I-84 is great if you live in Poughkeepsie, Waterbury or Hartford. It is of little relevance to those who live in Trumbull. The time it takes to drive on Route 8 to Waterbury and then to Danbury is a trip. You might as well go to Manhattan.

I think its meant getting to the Danbury mall from Trumbull, which is not really a direct highway.

Now I get what you meant - no direct access between both cities. While there’s no interstate access, Route 25 between Trumbull and Danbury is a highly traveled route that any local in central and northern FFC regularly travels. Nobody in their right mind would go up to Waterbury and back to Danbury; it’s ridiculous to suggest so.

Regardless, back to the point, that difference in markets is all the difference in crime rate.

I've never heard of anyone in the Trumbull area go to Danbury for any reason. The Trumbull Mall is infinitely safter than it was in the early 1990s. Frankly, I'm baffled by comments that crime is intractable at this mall.
