Hi, I know that Stamford has some nice hotels but all the construction has got to be noisy! Same for Norwalk to a more limited extent. I am planning to travel to Norwalk to go on the Aquarium Ocean science boat ride and would appreciate suggestions for a place to stay the night before. I will be coming from NYC via Metro North. Thanks!

Welcome to Connecticut and other side of NYC metro area. Norwalk you can stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Norwalk, Residence Inn by Marriott Norwalk. You can visit new mall call Sono Collection, checkout food places on Washington St and there nice ice cream shop call Mr. Frosty's Ice Cream Shop in East Norwalk across the bridge. Stamford is nosey because it booming people from NYC, Westchester, Long Island mostly who has money moving there they tired of NY but they want be close 40-45 mins express train ride to Manhattan.

Stamford downtown, two blocks from Train, is not noisy. Recomend the Marriots on Summer or Atlantic. Express to Stamford. Next day local to Norwalk.

Bypass Sono Collection. But food on Washington is good call.

Hotel Zero Degrees in Norwalk on Main Ave. Quiet, new, and pretty affordable.

Edit: nvm, if coming by train I agree with Steve’s suggestion. Hotel Zero Degrees does have a shuttle but nothing could be more convenient for your situation than that Marriott.

The hotel at the South Norwalk train station is the Residence Inn at 45 South Main Street Norwalk, CT.

Easy walk from train station (which is the South Norwalk MetroNorth station) to hotel.

Easy walk from hotel to many restaurants in South Norwalk (SoNo).

And easy walk to Norwalk Maritime Aquarium next morning.

Forgot about the Doubletree over by Darien. The chocolate chip cookies at check-in are delicious. They may have a shuttle, doesn't hurt to check

I reiterate - the Residence Inn by Marriott in South Norwalk. For a one night stay, why go someplace where you need a shuttle or transportation in the morning to get to the aquarium?

And if you must have a cookie or other baked goods, walk over to SoNo Baking (https://www.sonobaking.com/). Fantastic breakfasts - great coffee and croissants that are reminiscent of Paris.

Definitely South Norwalk. I have stayed at the Hyatt in Greenwich and it was nice - but too far for where you need to be.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think the Marriott is also near the shopping mall in Stamford right? Is there another shopping mall nearby in Norwalk?
