Westport has banned recreational stores. Many wealthy towns did the same. I think it’s silly. The people that go into those stores have disposable income.

Based on what happened in MA (and what is currently happening in NJ), my strong suspicion is that after a year or two many of these towns will quietly reverse that decision. Towns freak out, throw up some laws, and then realize that it's less intrusive than a liquor store and that they could really use that tax money. There are still a few holdouts in MA, but many of the towns that initially banned sales now have a dispensary. They are literally everywhere now (my parents live in metrowest and have like 5 within a 15-minute drive).

No idea if that will be true in Westport or not obviously, but there is plenty of precedent for eventually loosening up the laws.

My regular store in MA was right on Washington St in Newton. The line was full of old white people in who pulled up in their BMWs and Mercedes. Seriously. Stuff if great for arthritis.

The other money is this technically is hemp. Think of everything made from cotton and then to replace it with something six times as strong and probably cheaper to grow.

Interesting that a couple are existing medical "chains". You really do need deep pockets to open one.

Also seems like the state intentionally approved them to be spread out across the state.
