The reality is the city must comply, as it is a mandate.
So the losers get bused off to another school? I smell grounds for a lawsuit.
Again it’s a ridiculous mandate and borderline racist. It assumes minorities do bad scholastically when they become more than one quarter of the school population. It’s liberalism at its worst. Jay

I do have one particular concern about trying to split up McKinley more, which is that they seem very well-structured in supporting the ESL population there. There's a huge number of languages spoken at McKinley. If families are dispersed to other schools, will that dilute the ability to support them?
Fairfield parents are generally very much against redistricting, but as long as the state law stands, it's either that or accept different types of housing stock in other parts of town, which most of the parents also seem to be against. It's just an endless circle that comes down to not wanting any change.

That is a very good point and one that I’m sure many Fairfield residents share. It’s just bad social engineering that nobody but the bureaucrats want. That is why the Fairfield School Board has rejected all proposed redistricting plans. They just don’t work.
The law is really racist, assuming schools with a high number of minorities perform poorly. That is wrong. It’s time the State admits the law is flawed and rescind or modify it. Jay

The article stated town is not sure state will give it more time. If not, what is Ct empowered to do by this legislation? Can they take over the school system?
