For enthusiasts into such things, yes.
With a family and small kids? (thread topic) not so much

Oh we already visited the Art Gallery as well, for some reason the kids did not enjoy it as much but that’s kids, you never know what they like

Oldest is about 7. Yeah we go to Mystic and Essex region all the time as well. We just find it interesting in the difference between amount of things to do for us between Hartford and New Haven. New Haven is closer to us but we actually drive to Hartford area more often.

I would say you underestimate how much we are willing to drive just to find something different to entertain the young kids. Of course we are not going to get a membership at science center (unlike local attractions such as steppingstones), but we still revisit it and other things nearby several times a year because it adds some variety to our routine.

I mean it's massive, so maybe they didn't happen to see exhibits they liked.

Totally. I'm just countering the idea it's a one and done. Even people I like that aren't into art but appreciate history/culture like going multiple times. All the ancient, Asian, etc. art is really interesting.

You and I get that, but 98.5% of CT doesn't. CT's main populace isn't very worldy cultured, it just isn't guys.
You bring stuff like that up at a FCounty dinner party you get blank stares, the room goes quiet until finally someone breaks the awkward silence with a Hey so how bout' those Yanks, or Blue Wave lacrosse.

When you move on from the museums/attractions age stage, and you will make no mistake, get them into sailing and rowing. Westport and Norwalk have great opps for those spaces, as well as sports activities in all the area towns/cities.

have you taken them to Kid City in Middletown? Silverman's farm in Easton? Flamig Farm in Simsbury? Nature's Art village and Dino place in Oakdale during the summer? Norwalk Maritime & Seaport cruises? Ballard Park playground in Ridgefield? Captain's cove seaport?

Also if you are in southern fairfield county, westchester, long island, and even NJ are not "that" far away minus any traffic (often is)
We haven’t visited the Middletown place and the farm in Simsbury, are they very different compared to Steppingstones and the farm in Easton?

We have visited the NJ attractions quite a bit as well as stuffs in NYC. What attractions in westchester worth visiting besides the Playland?

The town itself has a nice downtown, walk able although spread out so you may want to research some shops/restaurants you want to hit as opposed to walking the whole length with young kids. Kidcity is far more play focused then steppingstones which to me is more learning focused. My kids definitely preferred kid city.

In westchester you can go to legoland, BillyBeez at the palisades mall isn't bad in the winter when there is little to do outside, piermont is a nice town to walk around on warmer days

Flamig farm has more of an open farm feel to it as some of the animals are out and about as opposed to that zoo feel silvermans has. Both have playgrounds and Flamig has this large wooden truck that all the kids gravitate towards.
Thank you, now we have some new places to drive to
