Twice a week gets tiring really fast, especially in bad weather or on mornings where you wake up late or get out of the office later than anticipated.

I could/would do this 1x/week.

I do wonder though, is it “go once a week just to check a box” meaning the day doesn’t matter? Or is it “every Tuesday” kind of thing since that’s a big in person team meeting day?

If it had no rhyme or reason, it the drives would eventually feel worse because the rationale/purpose for going in is superficial. Physiologically that does matter when spending 4 hours in the car. If it’s pointless, it’s harder to do it.

If it was the “can be any day doesn’t matter” then I’d like strategically use vacation days on my “supposed to come in” every once in a while.

The topic thread is about someone working from home and only having to go in 2x/week. Obviously this is about a worker who DOES and CAN work from home. It’s a reasonable thought to say “by the way, even if it was your go in day, if the weather is terrible, it’s likely you will WFH anyways that day”.

Of course there are plenty of jobs people cannot WFH for. However, for the most part, those types of jobs don’t pay enough to warrant 2 hour commutes each way.

For example, if you are a librarian, yes, that’s an in-person job. You also would never be driving 2 hours to work. At that point you need to move or just quit.

On a side note, I’m not sure what a librarian does in 2024. That’s not a jab, I’m truly clueless.
