State Lawmakers agree to eliminate the Star Rebate Programs. I know my Dad's taxes will go from an insane $18,000 a year to $21,000 now.

Hope this creates more demand here for properties. Then again, won't taxes just go up anyway? lol We can't win.

Interesting info, but shouldn't this be over on the NY board?

No, I wanted to let CT residents know that a lot more people will be flocking to CT. Trust me, things aren't affordable as is and now with that much increase in their taxes, they'll be looking to get out of Westchester.

And home builders aren't building new houses to boot.

This isn't true. The STAR rebate remains. It will be APPLIED to your taxes and not sent in the form of a refund.

Hmm, so they'll lower their property taxes? I can't see that happening..it's like those numbers don't go backwards. lol Anyway - I'm pretty sure they are fed up with the insane taxes in Westchester.

Baby Boomers maybe moving out?

STAR deduction is still in effect. We will no longer be getting the rebate check in the fall that they've been doing for the last 2 years. My understanding is that the rebate was never meant to be a permanent thing anyway.
