I just a read old post in the same forum about a person living in Milford asking for a recommendation for a hospital for delivery of baby.

I am currently living in Hartford and I am still debating where to deliver my baby (I am 3 months pregnant). Would any one recommend the two hospitals in downtown Hartford? I am living in downtown Hartford right now and I am just wondering the people living nearly neigborhood like Avon, Manchester, Windor would go to those Hospitals? I also saw there are hospitals in Newington and New Britain. Would any people recommend that?

I had my first child at St Francis Hospital in Hartford and didn't have a very good experience, which is why my 2nd child was NOT born there. But i do know other mothers who have enjoyed St Francis so i think it depends on the woman.

Just FYI whichever OBGYN office you choose will decided for you WHICH hospital you will deliver at. All the groups are associated with a particular hospital. So when calling OBGYN offices ask them where they deliver their babies...

I am sooooo beyond the pregnancy thing but do have friends who have gone to New Britain to have their babies and have been very happy. Hartford Hospital is a good hospital as is St. Francis both of which are closer. If I were you, I would go online and look at what each hospital has to offer. Most hospitals have their own website. Good Luck!

DW is very knowlegable about the medical facilities and swears by Hartford Hospital. She has had experience at all of them and by far thinks the quality of service there is best in the greater Hartford region. That said she also likes New Britain which is now The Hospital of Central Connecticut. If you are looking to the New Haven area, Yale New Haven is excellent. Jay

Delivering at Hartford Hospital sometime in July (hopefully). Had several friends that delivered there recently and they all had a good experience. And KH02 makes a good point, the doctor you're affiliated with typically determines the hospital where you'll deliver. I actually switched physicians in order to move to HH for delivery.
