Price range and desired commute time would be helpful.

I might jump ahead and say Farmington, since someone else will probably do it later anyway.

Well, depending on your budget and how large or small a town you're looking for, there's a few options. Southington is right next door to Bristol and offers very good schools. It's a nice, suburban town of just over 40,000 with many local and big-box retail stores and a quaint downtown. It has a bit of a blue-collar feel to it, reason being is even today many people who work in town are employed in manufacturing industries.

Cheshire and Farmington might also work for you. Both are great towns with well-performing schools, though Farmington has a bit more of a preppy feel to it (as well as an old-money vibe). The only downside to these towns is you'll probably have to do most of your shopping out of town, and in certain neighborhoods the traffic can be hectic - which would definitely be an issue if kids are involved. Still, this is the case only in certain parts (like Route 4 in Farmington - nasty commuter traffic).

Anyway, these are a few towns that would probably work. Good luck!

Southington and Farmington have good schools and are close by...Burlington would be another more rural option.
Budget would certainly help though.

I agree that more information will be needed to help. The Farmington River Valley suburbs are very nice. The are very scenic, have very good to excellent schools and offer a high quality of family life. The towns include Avon, Farmington , Simsbury, Burlington and Canton. They offer a wide range of housing options as well. Jay

Plainville is a nice town which directly borders Bristol. It's generally cheaper than the Farmington valley towns, but not as quaint.

I'd go with Bristol over Plainville.

With that budget I would suggest Farmington, Southington, or Burlington. Farmington has the best overall reputation of those three. Much of Burlington is quite rural if you like that style.

To be that close to Bristol you would need to be in a neighboring town. That would mean either Southington or Farmington. If you are going to be working at ESPN, Southington would be closer. Jay
