There's not much in West Haven besides the beach...and depending where you're coming from, that might not be a "real" beach to you.

As for New Haven...what do you like? That would help us narrow down suggestions.

There are museums (Peabody, British Art, Eli Whitney, Yale Art Gallery, Knights of Columbus which is free), Lighthouse Point, walk along Long Wharf, walk around downtown, the Green and the Yale campus. Ride the tolley at the Trolley Museum in East Haven. Have pizza at world famous Frank Pepe's or Sally's or Modern. Attend a play at Yale Rep, Long Wharf or the Shubert. Jay

New Haven is known in the area for great dining and cultural opportunities and awesome parks. Downtown there is a huge variety of great restaurants, from Italian, to gourmet French, Japanese, Malaysian, Ethiopian, etc. There is also the Yale art musuems, the Knights of Colombus museum as well as the Peabody museum ( great for kids.)
In Wooster Square and along State Street there is GREAT pizza, check Sally's and Pepe's on Wooster St. and Modern and Amato's on State St.
East Rock park is huge and offers trails, fields, and a stunning hilltop view of the city and surrounding towns. Also be sure to check Lighthouse Park ( its cold for the beach now but the waterviews are nice.)
In West Haven, not really much going on but there city beach is very large offers some great waterviews. There are also some seafood places along the beach as well.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay!

I noticed you have dredged up a lot of old threads. Since this poster was visiting last summer, I imagine they have finished their stay.
