Hi out there! I need any info anyone can give me about Jewett City. Things like how's the housing, atmosphere, what to do, fun & recreation, types of business',what kind of work is available, is there any shopping ,etc. I sure would appreciate that! I've been through Mystic (briefly) and really liked it. I can't seem to find the info I need on Jewett though. Thanks for your help! Sincerely ,gem15

Jewett City is a borough in New London County, Connecticut, in the town of Griswold. Population 3,000. It lies about 7-8 miles north east of Norwich. It is a small enclave.

There is a supermarket, a few restaurants, a Movie theater, and a Library.

Employment opportunities would likely be in Norwich, The Casino's and in New London. The 'town' lies about 7 miles to the southwest of Plainfield.

Red face Hello

I grew up there. The last time I was there was last year to visit family. What would you like to know. It was a nice place to grow up (and in your case maybe raise kids) but I was glad to move. That was 25 years ago. Now I'm in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. I was a little homesick today and used google to map out my old addressses (sick-I know) when I saw your question and replied. Not much of jobs to speak of. There is a mall in the next town of Lisbon with a Walmart, etc... that gave the locals some much needed jobs. The "city" itself has alot of small businesses. The school situation was bad when I was growing up-but that was 30 years ago-I hear the school situation is better now for the kids. Anything else ??? For fun, everything in the state and even RI is only minutes or a couple of hours away. Oh, I almost forgot Foxwoods (a big casino) is only 15 minutes away. Also a job possibility. Good luck.

In general, most of Southeast CT is ok..... the further away you get from Norwich or New London/Groton/Waterford, the more expensive it gets as you get into the suburbs
