I agree with JayCT and renovating... we're doing the move to CT from NYC, and my husband will be commuting every day. You have a larger budget than we do, so I would definitely suggest Westport. Fairfield is as far north as most people prefer to go, and that's where we're going. Great schools, great in-town, beaches, community feel - but I am sure you can that in Westport as well.

milford and stratford both have their own train stations, if you can get someone to drop you off and not need to find parking, then you might be ok and might get a seat, by the time the train gets to fairfield/westport it is pretty full

I vote for my hometown, Stratford. Stay clear of Roosevelt Forest though.

Don't go past the arched wings over the Merritt. That's where they hang out.

Shelton and Oxford also are rumored to have melonheads! Easton and Redding are rumored to have werewolves running wild in their woods!

Renovating - You have never noticed the beautiful set of wings on the James Farm Road overpass in Stratford? The wing sculpture makes that bridge one of the most beautiful on the entire road. Jay

I'm embarrassed to say, no. I have worn my tires thin on the Merritt, too. I know that overpass and maybe I have just driven it so many times I have overlooked the sculpture. I will definately take notice next time!
