was selling cassettes up until 2006. my last store bought cassette was Gordon Lightfoot's 1976 album (I forgot the name) with the "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" song on it
"harry-how could i use the speaker output to drive a matching transformer? what specifically would I do? what equipment would i use or buy?"
Sometimes you might find a Radio Snack with matching transformers. This site gives info on the concept in general. A transformer gives voltage separation between devices while still passing on the signal. You can hook things up direct, but it usually sounds bad and could damage the input of whatever amp you are using.
cassette player/CD player/AM/FM so it's considerably larger than a walkman like a cute rounded little baby boom box, the cassette player was good and it oozes quality, unlike the 2008 model i returned
My problem is that the volume is very low. I can only hear an occasional word and that is faint. It was working the last time I used, about a week ago, but now only faint sound. Anyone have an idea? It's a 25 year old Panasonic that laid in a drawer for many years.
About all that can be inferred is that it is a problem in the amplifier section. 25 years means that a lot of components might have failed. The first suspect is generally the capacitors, with some carbon slider potentiometers next. Don't expect to fix it.
