My Samsung washer leaked two weeks ago. After technician came and repaired it, Samsung asks me to estimate the compensation myself as the ceiling of kitchen and carpet are badly damaged. Shall I look for such type of services and make an appointment to let a professional estimator do that? Has anyone had similar experiences before?
Thanks in advance.

Get an estimate from a contractor, once you make an uneducated estimate, that's all you will get.

Yeah, write down on a piece of paper that you want $1,000,000.

I'm sure they'll honor that.

Had a 4-year old Dell laptop that exploded (battery) and left a mess on the wall and furniture. They asked us to give them a number and sent us a refurb laptop. We called our people, they gave us quotes and we passed it on to dell. We were expecting pushback. It took 8 months of waiting but a check and a new laptop (yes, a second one) showed up.
