gps tracker for camera bag? (reviews, phone, devices, cameras)

We just bought a 1500 dollar DSLR and we're going to new york soon... is there some kind of gps tracker that I can embed in the case in case someone steals it? I tried to get an inconspicuous case but it's pretty apparent that it's got valuables inside, and especially if we're using it while in the city and someone sees us put it away.

I googled it a bit and there doesn't seem to be any reliable devices for this, most have bad or no reviews.

Alternatively, I hear you can claim it on renter's insurance? I'm emailing my agent soon but I'd rather just keep the camera and not have to pay a huge deductible to get a little bit of my money back. I guess if it gets stolen I may never see it again regardless of the tracker...

You should keep it safe at all times. I have an expensive DSLR as well...as do millions of other Americans. Use some street smarts and keep it with you at all times. Even if you had a GPS tracker, the criminal will ditch it soon anyway. They will take the camera out, and throw the bag away.

How about a very long lanyard that goes around your neck, and STAYS THERE all through your walking around in questionable areas ?

We have a couple of those for our phones and cameras, and never have lost them ... yet ...
