Do you have an air purifier running, one that ionic? That will send out a static buzz on the AM radio. They say that the earths ionosphere interferes with AM reception which is why AM signals travel further at night, the sun is not interfering.
At work our overhead ceiling fans kill AM reception and nearby electrical equipment affect it as well.
