I have an old Panasonic tv/vcr combo. works fine. plus I have cable.
On channel 7 (ABC) I always get subtitles in Spanish. Only on Ch 7. no other channel. Obviously I checked the menu settings, and do not have subtitles or language selected.
It's been that way since I had the tv and the cable. Doesn't bother me cuz I don't watch ch 7.

but I got curious one day, so first called cable, they didn't know the answer. they suggested I call Panasonic, they didn't know. Panasonic suggested the issue was with the local producer of ch 7 in my area. If that was the case, wouldn't everyone in my area have this problem, in which case I would have heard about it. I haven't checked with the local producer.

along similar lines, on other channels - sometimes on espn channel, not all the time - I get a line at the bottom of the screen on symbols - like square, diamond, other.

Does anyone have any idea, or have you ever heard of this?

If you have SAP on your remote click on it and see if that eliminates the Spanish version that station is broadcasting.
