They remind me a lot of Samsung back in the early 2000s, a lot of potential but at the time didn't have that brand power or tech to take on the likes of Sony & Japan Inc in electronics or Nokia, Blackberry in mobile/cell phones. Switch to 2016 and the likes of Japan Inc and Nokia/Blackberry/Motorola/Ericsson and pretty much gone from the electronics front.
Huawei is somewhat more of a hybrid - they make a lot of switch gear and backend equipment, patents and smartphones and now 2 in 1 laptop devices.
Samsung is probably more front end - smartphones phones, LCDs (which basically offshoots into TVs, computer screens and smart phones).
Huawei is Huawei. I wouldn't compare them to Samsung just yet. Samsung innovated A LOT. Huawei hasn't really done anything too innovative or outside the box. Yet. They just make solid products.
