The problem is the music is so loud I can't really hear the announcers talking about the events at the Olympics. Opening ceremony? All I could hear was music and some murmuring in the background. Same with speed skating, ice dancing, etc. Pretty frustrating. I have this problem with some other programs on TV with loud background music but nothing like this.

My TV is a 55" Samsung LED HDTV with a Samsung Home Theater system. I don't understand much about this setup (it was done for me) but it seems like the sound needs to be adjusted and I can't figure out how. On the remote I have 2 buttons that say 3D Sound and Sound Effect. Messing with those doesn't help. I can get an on-screen menu that has a sound selection but I don't understand any of it. Actually I'm scared I'll mess up something that I don't intend to. I tried reading the manual but it's Greek to me. Can anyone help or do I have to get a service person to come out? Thanks!

What's the model of the TV? of the Home Theater System?
What has changed recently or has it always done this?
Does it happen for all channels or just this one (switch to, say, a channel with a sporting event for comparison)?

TV model #UN55EH6000
Theater system HTE5500W

I've noticed this ever since I got the TV (just over a year ago) but most shows don't have music blaring over them like the Olympics. Until now it's been a minor annoyance because the music usually stops fairly quickly. For instance, The Today Show plays background music in their introduction and I have to strain to hear what the news stories are going to be. Once they stop the music I can hear the announcers just fine.

It doesn't seem to be channel specific.

I don't know whether you have the home theater system connected correctly but let's check the obvious first.
On your remote, push Menu (or Tools) > Sound > Mode and check to see if it's set at "Standard" or "Clear Voice".

Check the sound options, on my TV it has option which I believe is supposed to prevent the ridiculously loud commercials but voices become very hard to hear if there is background noise.

Jaypee, it's on Standard.

Coalman, not sure I have that option but if I do I don't know what it's called!

Personally, with all the yammering that the announcers do, I would look upon that as a feature rather than a flaw.

Harry, I think that's true a lot of the time, but how can I watch Ice Dancing without hearing what Scott Hamilton has to say?

The yoyos have the background crowd volume up to high and the announcers volume to low. Normally not an issue on my Vizio...but it was bad for the opening ceremonies.

Ok so now you'll have to see whether you've installed the home theater system correctly.
What's connected to what? Check your HT manual's diagram to see whether things are wired correctly.
