So....
After a few hours of repeated efforts, attempting to follow eufy instructions (HAH!), and having devices disappear from the dashboard multiple times, I THINK I have a functioning smart doorbell.
You would think networking tech was a late 2022 innovation.
All instructions seem to be written inside out. I was putting together a note demanding a full refund and return shipping...
et voila!!! Out of nowhere video poppe up on my phone.
As usual, hardware is hardly the issue. Software and manuals, OTOH, are painful.
Labrador Retriever, 80 pounds. Always lets you know someone's at the door. Can easily distinguish between friend and foe. And she incorporates a built-in security system and enforcement mechanism. Not too many burglars want to break into a house where there's an 80 pound dog on the other side of the door trying to eat them.
Smarter than many of the programmers at the companies developing this stuff.

We can't leave a dog at our lake house, because it would starve to death. Unless you know a dog that's smart enough to feed itself, but thanks for the suggestion. Think I'll stick to the Ring Doorbell for now. It's nice to keep track of the house while we're away.
I don't mind any door bell that does not have a battery (s) outdoors, because it gets extremely cold in central Alaska. My favorite are alarms that are powered indoors by either a small transformer. Second are the ones that are powered indoors by batteries.

You can go both ways with Ring. At my main home I'm using batteries (Northern Virginia has a mild climate and I use solar chargers) but our lake house in Pennsylvania they are all powered by transformers.

Same here with my Eufy doorbell.
I have it connected to the transformer, but could be full battery.
I have had a free Ring doorbell for several years. Won’t pay the subscription.. That Eufy one is looking like a good option. Can it ring on 2 different phones?
