Not sure why no one is coming forth with builders they are happy with.

My home is an old log cabin that was built a long time ago.
I do not know any builders here. I do know a builder in Centerville.
I can put you in touch with someone in the builders association who could probably help.

I see a number of builders in the listing in the Crossville / Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce site .I have no idea of their skills or reputation in the area.

Default thank-you

Perhaps the best way to secure a builder is just to start looking at homes in progress on our next trip up. It is always better to hear from those that are happy though.

Wow, an old log cabin. How comforting that feels right now.
Been under some stress right now (arent we all) with my son deployed and curling up in a log cabin feels oh so heavenly right now.

I can't help you with a good builder. But...I can tell you who NOT to use! Having our home built was a fiasco to say the least. After two years I think we have most of the bugs worked out. I had to take a lot into my own hands and spend a lot of extra cash to have others come in and fix the problems. I think the builders middle name was "Short-Cut". No problems with anyone else we have met around there though. But most seem to be on Tennessee Time..........Slowwwwwwww.

You may want to check with a couple local title companies as they KNOW builders. They do all the titile searches, knows whos on the up and up and whos cut corners and getting liens placed against them. had this conversation a few years back on a refinance with ours. Made sense. Hope it helps.

You know, that is a great idea! I have checked with local town building departments in the past, but they have to be careful about giving out personal, and maybe prejudicial information. But, it is in a title companies best interests also if you know and use the better builders.

Thanks for that great tip.

Default builders

I was finally able to secure five builders to be able to start setting up appointments for a preliminary meeting.

I did phone a title company as was mentioned and one name I was given was definitely a no no from a very reliable source

I would be happy to share with anyone via direct message if you are interested in the list I gathered keeping in mind this is pre-appointment.

There are two phone numbers I have not been able to secure as of yet but I will get those phone numbers.
