A Los Angeles couple is leaving big city life behind and moving to Cookeville, Tennessee. She wants a big house with a pool close to town for all the kids they're planning to adopt. He wants to go full rural, with tons of acreage far from town.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of budget they have. Knowing House Hunters, it'll be something completely unrealistic. Still, this should be fun to watch. Tuesday October 1, 9pm local time on HGTV.

Yes it should be interesting. I wonder if the couple will be looking for employment? They may receive a surprise to find out the salary range will be $32k for experienced candidates.

You do know the house was under contract before House Hunters is filmed and the other 2 houses are just for show. Lots of fake stuff on that show, can't watch it anymore.

All "reality TV" is pre-scripted.

Prescripted or not --- I'm going to record it anyway --- it's great-stupid entertainment

Someone supposedly just bought the 47 acre farm, next to our 25 acres. It sold for so much money our place has likely gone up in value. Good thing we aren't near Cookville or I would worry it might be these yay-Hoos.

Still ----- I'm holding my breath -----

She's an artist and he's a stay-at-home dad. Their budget is $800,000...

haha That's pretty much how this show operates. "Normal" couples with completely unrealistic budgets.

But I do know the realtor who will be in this show, and this couple is real, and they made a mint selling their house in L.A. and were able to afford quite a bit in Cookeville. In fact, they've already moved here. She wouldn't tell me the budget as I guess that's something we have to wait to find out in the show.

One of the reasons I like the show isn't because of the fake house hunting but because the show highlights the towns where the people are moving to. I'm eager to see how they showcase Cookeville.

There's more info in today's paper about this upcoming episode. According to the realtor, House Hunters would like to do more episodes in the area, but the crew might say that about everywhere they go. Anyway, here's a link to the article:

Cookeville to be featured on House Hunters

Great show! The couple's budget wasn't too outrageous: $400,000. They seem super excited to be living in Cookeville (the wife doesn't have to work anymore, for one thing), and in fact at the end of the show the husband said his entire family (siblings and their families and parents) have all fallen in love with Cookeville and are moving to town from California.

Sounds like my experience.

One of the homes, but not picked, is close to Cookeville Boat Dock. If it was me I probably would have picked that one out of the choices. Just far enough away to have much more peace and quiet but close enough to be in town in less than 30 minutes.
