Had a great time, what a lovely town. I didn't get to visit all the food places I wanted (like Graces Lumpia) but I visited what I could and took in some sights.

Saw the pink elephant and visited the Cookeville museum and the park behind it. Did a little bit of hiking and saw some waterfalls and stopped in one of the Churches on Sunday.

Really nice town, I liked it a lot. I think my wife prefers the 'bustle' of the city a bit more than the quiet life but I really enjoyed it.

Some highlights were that the street tacos at El Tapatio were very good. As good as anything I've had in other cities like Chicago or DC. (ask for the Horchata drink, it's not on the menu that I saw, but they do make it.)

I'm a musician so I checked out the local Crossroads music store but honestly was really disappointed in the guitar selection. They only had a few guitars and they were all low priced Made in China models. I didn't really see anything nice. I was looking to buy a made in the USA Fender Telecaster while I was in Tennessee but I guess that's something to shop for in Nashville.

Only complaint was that the cell service was really bad. Even the wifi in the hotel was pretty bad. It only worked in part of the room and the best speed was around 16MBps,.. and here at home I get about 800MPps.

All in all though I really enjoyed the trip and really enjoyed the town. I definitely would like to visit again and maybe convince the family it's worth moving to.

Unfortunately, the cell service gets slower down around the southern part of town in the afternoons, in my experience. Not sure if it's all the people in the same area at the given time or not. I have Verizon and don't have much problem until that specific timeframe or until you get to some areas outside of town. As for the hotel wifi, that would obviously be a hotel issue. Normal residential broadband internet around town is Spectrum at 300MB and then Twin Lakes up to a gig (outside of Cookeville). There is also Ben Lomand on the south side of town that has up to a gig. I have Spectrum in Algood (with way too many devices connected ) and I don't have any problems outside of an occasional short service outage. I'll also add that my wife and I both work at home so we need a lot of bandwidth.

yeah it was a little nuts. I guess I'm spoiled by 5G cell service. I'd google area of interest or something on my phone and it would take like 5 minutes to load or it just wouldn't load at all.

Minor correction: Twin Lakes has up to 10 gigs. I do a lot of work from home and upgraded to 10 gigs from the previous 1 gig, and the difference is astounding. I thought 1 gig was lightning fast, but 10 gig is like a whole new world.

Thanks for the update! It's funny that there are some people who think Cookeville doesn't have enough bustle while others think Cookeville is too busy and crowded. Hopefully your wife will come around.

Twin Lakes has 10 gig in some neighborhoods inside Cookeville, too, and continues to expand in the city.

I stand corrected. I just wish I could get Twin Lakes on my side of Algood. Maybe one day.
