Hi, I am attending Tennessee Tech in August and am looking for an aprtment. It will be my fiance, his brother, and I so we need 2 bedrooms and preferably 1.5 to 2 bathrooms. I also have a sheltie that i want to bring with me, i could leave her home with my family, but if it is possible to take her i want to. My fiance's brother currently lives in the Fleetwood Village Apartments, and we are thinking of just redoing the lease when his is up next moth, but i have looked online and have read bad reviews on that apartment complex. If anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it. We dont have much time - we want to be down there by the end of June - to get used to it and learn our way around - my fiance and his brother lived there before for 5 years, and his brother moved back down there last year and is currently there.

Thanks for your help!!

Jessica

Fleetwood Village is not bad,but there are definitely better.
As your fiance probably knows there are thousands of apartments in Cookeville. One that I can definitely recommend like you described is Cambridge apartments at the intersection of E.10th & Fisk Rd. They are 2 bedroom/2 full bath, dining room, tile kitchen, gas log fireplace, good pool...very nice. They are also less than 10 years old. They'll probably go for around $600/mo.These are the "garden" apartments with the balconies.
They sit right next to the Chelsea Place apartments which were built around the same time. They're very nice too but not quite as nice as Cambridge IMO.The drawback with Cambridge is that they didn't allow pets when I lived there(9 yrs. ago).Don't know about Chelsea Place...
Another to look at are the Saxony apartments on E. Spring St. It's an older complex but has been completely remodeled. Two different levels (top of the hill & bottom...) both with it's own pool. May be a little cheaper than Cambridge and more likely to allow your dog.
There are certainly lots of other great apts. in Cookeville though, these are just the ones I've got first hand experience with.Hope it helps a little.

I'm also moving to Cookeville in the fall to attend TTU, and I'm hoping to get into Tech Village Apartments.

Tech Village is cheap, but they have limitations and some pretty strict regulations. I haven't read anything bad about them, but you never know. I still don't know if I'll get an apartment or not; I have to wait until July to hear from the reservationists.

I've also looked into Fleetwood Village. They seem to be pretty nice, and not too expensive.

I've looked at University Towers as well.

I don't have very good credit, so, my options may be limited, but hopefully everything will work out.

I found some apartment listings here:

www. rentalguideuppercumberlands .com/index.cfm

If anyone knows anything about Tech Village, please let me know. I'm hoping to get in, but I'm not sure how the whole waiting list is going to work out.

Thanks.

Tech Village is not where you want to be. Chelsea Place and Cambridge are both good apartments and I've lived in both. They have a pool and a good landscape. They both allow pets to a certain weight. There was never a lot of noise and it's perfect near campus. The Algood Wal Mart is just down the street and much less crowded than the one on Jefferson. I hope this helps. TTU is a good school. I attend there.
