my gas bill is around 100 bucks a month,we just recently moved down here all we have that is gas is the hot water heater and the stove isnt that awfully high?

Check for leaks. Also turn the temp down on the water heater, it maybe set to max, making it burn all the time.

Are you sure there is nothing else on gas besides the water heater?

Was it just the gas part of the bill or the entire utility bill? They put gas, water, waste water and trash collection all on one bill. Still, $100 is high if you don't have gas heat. If it's the entire bill you might check for a water leak as well.
