Hi, I like the Texas beeches and want to go back soon. I know we had some big storms and lots of places took hard hits the past couple of years. So what places are still nice to visit? Is Surfside still nice? Are most areas wiped out? Galveston?

thanks.

I don't know about Surfside or Galveston, you might have better luck asking about those places in the Houston subforum. Around here, the beach on Mustang Island is still in good shape, but be aware that Port A was hit hard and some lodging and dining options are unavailable. The beach on North Padre Island is probably in good shape too, but I haven't been there since the storm.

... Well, I know that the beach areas on North Padre Island are in decent shape; they were packed the day we were there, last week. We had to park alongside one of the dunes, away from the beach; that's how many people and vehicles there were!
We went to the beach the same day as the "Beach to Bay" run ... Tons of Families making a day of it, at the beach. The wind (very breezy) was off the Gulf and folks were having some difficulties with their beach shelters, awnings, and canopies. We had a wonderful time though, just walking along the beach for a couple of miles --> It was GREAT!
