Well, the Village Idiot in the White House cancelled all outbound ships 3 hours after we arrived in San Diego for the night at a hotel.
I never got notified by Holland America that the cruise was cancelled. In fact other passengers that were on the same cruise showed me their emais. So I tried to call them and they would not answer the phones.
So I left and drove home, very disappointed. At least I was not out the airfare and trying to get back home like the people from Ohio and HI.. I am only out gas and one nights stay at a hotel and some 16 hours of driving.
When I went to their website and tried to get information it told me my ship sailed. Bull****.
And when the booking agent told me it would be 10-15 days before they refund my excursions an the cost of the trip I did not like it. They have already had all my money for 2 months.
Frankly this was an omen, I will not cruise again.

Unless you woke up from a 50 day sleep, how could you be surprised cruising could be cancelled? LMAO

The announcement was made while we were driving to San Diego.
Not much notice, and I never got any at all from Holland, only heard about it from the hotel and other guests.
I could not confirm this information as Holland America's phone lines just gave you a recording telling you when they would take calls as if they were closed.
Thousands of people have been left trying to get airlines reservations to return home.
What a mess.

I have 2 couple friends on cruises in the Southern Hemisphere right now. One couple is on a ship adrift at sea not knowing what happens next; the other ship (Quest) finally after a few days unknown is being allowed to dock in Buenos Aires but all must go directly from boat to bus to airport. Everyone is healthy on both boats. So everyone on board is stuck trying to get flights on one and in limbo on the other all in far flung places.

These spurned Holland passengers are much better off than my friends. Lucky you can drive home!

President did you a favor!!! Not sure why anyone would want to cruise during this pandemic as you saw what the other cruisers went through! I love cruising (been on many) but this was a God send to you and I'm truly glad you didn't sail.

We chanced it. None or the ports we were to visit nor the ship had any problems.
And we had a non refundable passage too.
You cannot live with your head in the sand.
There is most likely a grocery clerk stocking your shelves right now that is contaminating the stuff he touches and he does not yet know he is sick. That virus can live 48 hours on the surface of what he touched.
Think about it!
