It isnt just hanging out on a boat for a couple days. Its a floating resort. It is an an inclusive floating resort with activities, amenities and restaurants. It also travels from place to place for some variety in your trip. If you enjoy the beach, you could spend a week in Jamaica or you can spend a week on a boat and go to 3 different countries, clubs, beaches, bars, pools and etc without any additional travel required.
A cruise means different things to different people.
We tend to hang out on the Promenade Deck quite often because sea air, once you get out of sight of land, is the freshest and cleanest air on the planet. It's also free of allergens.
I never got tired of watching the flying fish on one of our Panama Canal trips. I've been to Alaska seven times on cruise ships. I'll go again when we get the opportunity to go into Glacier Bay.

I get the idea of going to places like jamaica but if rather fly and spend more time there than hanging out at clubs and pools. I can do that here.

The OP has obviously never been on a cruise, and this topic should have been started by someone that has.
First, they are extremely cheap inclusive vacations compared to many. My wife and I spend way more on our trips to Key West. Second, being on a cruise is nothing like hanging out at a hotel. There are so many activities while on board that it's amazing. They are literally a floating city. Third, the ports are so much fun, and it's a really cool way to see places you'd be less likely to see in any other fashion. If you love the ocean, there's no better way to be close to it. An ocean side balcony room is amazing.
It has little to do with the ship which is mainly for sleeping and eating for us. It’s more about the ports that it visits and we try to choose port intensive cruises. We don’t hang out at clubs and pools, if the ship is docked, we’re in port exploring.
As for cost, plan a trip to Gustavus to spend time at Glacier Bay, Alaska. In the past, you could find 7 night Alaska cruises for less than that cost that also include Glacier Bay, as well as several other ports.
Not like ”hanging out at a hotel”. Every day you wake up in a new place. No packing your bags or hassling with an airport or other transportation. I look at cruises as a ”vacation sampler”. If you see a place that really interests you, you can plan an exclusive trip there later. Also, we have a cruise package booked for next year (fingers crossed, but I'm not hopeful) that includes several days of overland travel.

you're right I've never been on a cruise it sounds boring. I posted the thread to ask what they were all about. Is someone had been on a cruise then they would know and wouldn't have to ask so why would they post the threat asking about it?

well this is the whole point of the thread. Activities like what? Going to a bar going to a club going to a casino? What do you do on a cruise I don't know that's why I'm asking?
As far as I know it's just hanging out on a boat which is much like hanging out at a hotel.
You've been on a cruise did you forget what you did there?

I get the ports that would be the reason I would go on a cruise. The sites from the ship would be something that I would enjoy too.
it's just all the time between being in the ports and enjoying the sights of the sea is just blank I don't know what happens in those times what do you do? Hang out?
That's the part I'm asking about.
