although I don't support the war on drugs, I'm not going to get caught up in media sensationalism either. At worst I think meth users should have their children away but outside that I support the right of people to mess up their lives as much as they want as long as we don't have to pay them welfare services or food stamps while they are doing it. The cost of housing people in prison for 'drug crimes' which makes up fully half our prison population, is far higher than the cost of rehabilitation, not to mention it just turns these people into career criminals and makes them addicted to the prison system and a life of crime in a never ending cycle.
This child was not the meth dealer's. He was a relative's; the baby and his parents were staying there because their house burned down.
Do you know anything about the meth epidemic? Do you have any idea how it screws up the thinking of normal adults? I can give you THOUSANDS of examples where otherwise "good" parents put their kids at risk of death, all for the high of meth. It's a nasty drug that completely destroys every sensible, reasonable mind process.
MAKE NO MISTAKE: Any "parent" who subjects their child to that environment is completely bankrupt, both morally and spiritually and guilty as hell.
agreed, thanks. In addition, when meth is cooking, the residue settles on the floor. Children crawling around become meth-heads by default. No place for a child. How could anyone even begin to justify those kids being there? That mom knew exactly what was going on in that house.
While this is a tragedy it is what occurs when you associate with criminals. if you go into the pigs den you better expect to get dirty.
The baby who was harmed in this case was most certainly not associating with criminals.
Aside from that, blithely dismissing this sort of negligence on the part of agents of the state is utterly illogical. Socializing with someone that you may (or may not) know has a criminal record does not justify having your child critically injured at any time in your own home, particularly when that certain someone isn't even there.
Here's to hoping no informant ever claims someone you might know and is wanted by law enforcement can be found at your home.
We live in a police state now. We wanted it after 9/11 and we got it. Nothing we can do about it now, we have to live with what our fears brought us. Total overreaction to a situation and now we have pay. No turning back. Fear is very powerful and we have one heck of a lot of chest pounding cops out there.
The CIA is said to be the biggest drug dealer & they murder, too, approved by Congress & President. They have sold heroin, cocaine & more. So are they terrorists? Police/DEA/SWAT don't do drug raids because they care about others, unless they are severely brainwashed & don't read much on the internet. Isn't this phony war on some drugs really about protecting the harmaceuticals cos? $1 trillion a year sales just in US alone? They give many millions to president & most in Congress every year get $100K-$500K+.
Some of the most addicting & often deadly drugs are what they sell. No problems with all the deaths from alcohol & tobacco. Why, besides greed & bribes, can't drug laws be based on medical science? Cannabis is actually good for getting off drugs that kill, why can't that use be legalized?
"Marijuana" (cannabis) raids sure are not about protecting the public when it causes 0 deaths & has hundreds of proven medical uses. Used by over 1 billion last 10,000+ years. 20,000 studies tried to find harms & could not prove a single death as a direct result of use. 96% in online polls want it legalized as they've actually studied it.
No illegal drug kills as many as alcohol, tobacco, or pills. Before that Controlled Substances Act of 1970, police got paid, got equipment & found things to do while working, like helping people. Now it seems they think anyone not wearing their uniform (the American public) might be the enemy about to kill them. I think police learned killing the enemy was good when in some war, then they get preferential hiring here.
Does anyone think this is part of the problem? PTSD or worse? Sorry to all I offended. Best wishes.

Your definition of drug den would probably comprise a huge percentage of homes in the US.

The Libertarian Party cares about the 100% equally. So police would have no more murder rights than the average person. There are a great many good police officers, but they feel afraid to use their free speech rights &/or don't know details of wrongdoings of other cops.
