You will be changing your tune if this spreads, but than maybe that is the plan?
What plan are you speaking of?

I don't know about anyone else, but personally I don't feel comfortable with that scenario. And don't even get me started on how it would feel to be sitting next to someone while they threw up blood into a little bag.
Nothing like being vulnerable to the news media.

That sounds pretty contagious for people who have direct contact but I am still curious about the people on the plane who had indirect contact.

Anyone think it's strange there is a "top-secret" serum available ONLY to the two doctors who came back here? And that they're (guess what) already showing improvement?

Could have gotten it taking off the protective clothing. Using an airplane bathroom, even touching the faucet to wash hands thinking you are being hygienic, flushing the toilet and forgetting to wash, touching the lock and door on your way out. And have you not noticed how small those darn toilet compartments are and how difficult it is to not have your clothes touch any part of it? Women are known to set their purses down on toilet room floors....I see this all the time...and if someone had vomited and then someone...well there you go.

And I guess a great conspiracy theory would be that our government is spreading this globally to reduce the world population. Bill Ayres kind of thinking.....well then perhaps the gov is acting also a little like Noahs ark and dragging other people here to save them for the future and giving only special people this serum? Make a great book I think.

I know some make fun of the concern over this virus...but it is one of the CDC's hottest viruses out there.

Actually, I was wondering more along the lines of (a) pharmaceutical industry tactics for amazing profits and (b) controlling populations with forced vaccinations, limited travel, and other infringements on freedoms.

It wasn't a top secret serum. It has just never gone to clinical trials on human subjects before now but had proven promising on animal testing prior to this. It was cultivated from the antibodies from ebola infected mice and only exists in limited quantities right now because it was still in a pre-human testing phase.

I imagine that given the nature of what it's meant to actually combat, that even after gaining approval to test on humans, that it would be a impossible to actually test outside of situations like this.

What is most troubling, is that it had not yet been approved for human testing. I hope that for everyone's sake, that there are no adverse effects and that continued testing allows for the development of a widespread treatment for those infected with Ebola.

Actually, I am not paranoid about this Ebola thing. I am REALISTIC about it. My husband and I fly a lot. The conditions are very crowded and often there is a line formed at the bathroom. Throw in a little turbulence and motion sickness and vomit and diarrhea and things can get messy pretty quickly.

My husband used to work in West Africa. Nearly every time he came home, he had some sort of bug - which he then passed to me. We were sick so often it was ridiculous - and as soon as he stopped working over there, we went YEARS without being sick. He's been quarantined, isolated, had to take more vaccinations than most people could imagine, and he's also found out that malaria pills make him nearly as sick as malaria makes him.

If I was "vulnerable to the news media" I'd be worried about passing through DFW and Pittsburgh airports a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not. Still - it makes me pause and think about how easy it would be to come in contact with a stranger's body fluids, especially if they were suddenly and violently ill - which is what often happens with Ebola.
