The concept of war is an ongoing thing and has never really ceased in 20+ years. Something that strikes me as odd while simultaneously ringing true occurred to me while listening to Obama's pep rally last night.

Since the 1980 - most likely before - the federal government has been creating enemies for the sole purpose of the USA being at war with them. ISIS is Al Quaeda. Al Quaeda came into power when the federal government armed the moderate rebels in Afghanistan weapons to fight the Russians last century. Russia didn't prevail and the rebels soon became Al Quaeda. Are they really the terrorist group the federal government says they are or are they creating enemies so we can sustain constant war?

Last night Obama said he wants to arm moderate Syrian rebels.
Aren't we paying attention? Don't you think we would learn something? We are arming those who will be our future enemies and will need to be dealt with by future war. He wants to bomb who for what reason? The terrorists we created years ago and armed as little as 5 years ago? While arming those who oppose the present enemy?
It is all straight out of the book "1984".

If you want to know with whom Western Civilization is at war, ask who it is that is beyond criticism. And there you'll find our true enemy, creating false Hannibals we're to fear.

If you want to help innonect people you don't provide them with weapons, you let professional military do the job.

Of course it's the military-industrial complex, just with a nicer more modern spin. The left is always crying about bringing freedom and democracy, while the right is talking revenge and carrying out justice against our "enemies". But our enemies were our friends just a few years ago...so what happened?

Look at all the dictators we toppled using "arab springs" with all the media talking heads from CNN to NBC always getting imbedded to tag along with our "heros du jour"....of course until these heroes suddenly disappear and an extremist group rears its head and hijack our arms. What happened?

Saddam, Assad and the Egyptian dictator were all anti-extremism and yet we topple them for one reason or another and then allow these religious nutjobs to rise. Now we fight these religious nutjobs by arming "moderates". Good luck with these moderates because they have a strange way to extremists. The moderates in these countries are students and scholars....and how many actually know how to fight a dirty war-slugfest in their world? Of course they wont stand a chance before the more extremist groups take over, and get all of our arms! How stupid, stupid can American foreign policy be? Or is this deliberate?

Maybe the US just wants the Middle East to be forever a mess. It's good for Israel, and it's good for our arms industry.

Our forefathers warned us about getting involved with entangling alliances around the world, as well as Eisenhower warned us about the Military Industrial Complex. Yet, here we are. We never learn do we?

This is my point. We let the MIC pick and choose our enemies so they can keep producing arms. The role of the federal government is now about constant war yet the house has the keys to the whole thing. They can shut it down tomorrow if they so choose as they hold the purse strings. However, a congressman who bucks the status quo is in jeopardy of his seat by his own political party as they will shun him/her. Look what happend to Paul Ryan as of late.

This country has been in a constant state of war for decades – with whom it is at war is of neither importance nor consequence. We are in alliance with one faction while fighting one of pure evil and those roles will flip-flop in a few years. This century is proof of such.
Are we to hate and then cheer on wars against enemies of our own creation; is that what defines "patriotism" in these days? Is the original meaning of patriotism relevant any longer or something to be sneered upon by those who are brainwashed?

What does that do for the individual over a period of time? During WWI and WWII the USA had to ration goods to the people of the nation as most raw materials/consumables went to war efforts.
That will happen again - it is part of what happens when under totalatarian rule.
The purpose of total control is to inflict pain - rationing goods which were once plentiful is pain. Food, medicine, utilities, clothing and any other needs of the people are not important to those in control. The middle class will experience poverty. Ergo...more pain; the new normal.
3rd world people experience pain everyday - usually at the hands of their leaders.

It must be nice to be of the elite though I would go AWOL.

Fighting is a way of life in the middle east, they actually have a season for it and they often have many tribes, groups, or even nations (russia, usa) to shoot at.
"They" say that it has nothing to do with oil.. yeah right.
Looking back should Sadam Husein been taken out. Yes he was a tyrant that ruled his people with an iron fist and in soem cases even killed his own people but guess what he kept many of these Bozo terrorist groups in check.
The US is so tied up and in bed with so many different groups we need a score card to tell what team we are fighting with. Personally I think it is stupid to supply the "rebels" of (insert name here) and then think that someday those guns won't be turned against us.
On a smaller scale there is "fast and furious" How did that work out?
We need to dump these 2 faced liars, they are not our friends and never will be. If the people need aid then send them some help but do not send them more guns.

Default Who are we at war with?

We currently have two on-going long term wars underway, both of which are losers, no matter how long it takes to resolve either one.

1. War on terror: this is more of a war on the American taxpayer than anything else. The military-industrial complex continues to thrive as we're presented with an ever-expanding list of "enemies" that we're supposed to be frightened of. $6 trillion flushed own the toilets of Iraq and Afghanistan fuels the deficit and federal debt, while neither conflict makes us more secure nor supports any national interest other than the MIC cited above.

US Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq to Cost $6 trillion | Global Research

That $6 trillion could have funded Medicare and Social Security into perpetuity and provided plenty of jobs through funding badly needed infrastructure projects, greatly benefiting the American public. Instead, it was spent on creating more bomb craters in the middle east sand, infuriating locals and aiding recruitment for the very terror organizations we're supposedly "degrading."

2. War on drugs: this one is even dumber, believe it or not. Because it' a war on ourselves. Over its five decades of existence, it has been proven an abysmal failure, resulting in record breaking incarceration rates and skyrocketing drug use.

It's just dumb. There's no other word for it.

This perpetual war state that the US is in is all done by design. Funded by the middle class, and benefiting politicians and the military industrial complex. I believe that we are going to start having a lot of problems in this country.
