I'm so glad this happened, one of these 7-story fire-trap apartment buildings up in flames!

They've been building these fire-trap buildings all over the country, for some time now, and thank God this building was under construction, and not completed and occupied!

The formula for these buildings: first 2 floors with concrete flooring, and after that, up to 5 floors of wooden construction allowed! They've been building any number of these in the L.A. area, and they're all disasters waiting to happen!

I wouldn't live in one these buildings, even if the rent was free!

Our powerful, lobbying lumber companies are behind it all! The advantage with wood: speed! And doesn't haste make waste?

In Mexico, you can't even get insurance on a house, motel, or apartment building built out of wood, it's concrete all the way, and when the Mexicans hear of a "disaster" like this, they laugh and laugh and laugh at our insanity!

Hopefully, with this "life-saving" occurrence, this may put a stop to this madness, and save the lives any number of people!

Yes, link please. I can't imagine fire code would allow such a thing.

On SkyscraperPage.com, it gives you the opportunities to see what construction is going on in any city in the world, proposals, buildings under construction, and I've been following these developments for 2 years now, this popular form of construction going on everywhere in this country!

You have the ground floor concrete pad, then a concrete pad for the first floor, sometimes the 2nd floor, and from there on up, you can tack on 3-4-5 floors of wooden construction. They're deemed safe to live in with fire safeguards?

As fearful as I am about being in a fire, there's no way I'd rent an apartment on the 6th/7th floor of one of these buildings!

I apologize for the ineptitude of my providing Links. I've never been good at it, and envy those that can do it so easily!

Okay, I'll find it.

7-Story Apartment Complex Gutted; Lanes Reopened on 110 After ‘Remarkable Firefight’ | KTLA

It does look like all wood construction. Hard to believe that is considered safe. I wonder how earthquake-proof it is.

Here's an interesting article on multi-story wood construction: http://buildingsonfire.com/multi-sto...ction-insights

Let me try this, see if it works!

Massive Los Angeles Fire At Construction Site Closes Down 2 Major Highways

Pat myself on the back, it works!

What may come out of this, is people who will now have 2nd thoughts about moving into these multi-story wooden apartment buildings arising throughout the country! I have noticed, though, in some parts of the country, even with the concrete pads, only 3-4 stories of wooden construction is allowed to be added, unlike which is now permitted in the L.A. area!

I guess it would behoove someone apartment/condominium hunting to inquire as to the construction of the building. I wouldn't want to live in that tinderbox.

Why? I think in the "current events" forum one should expect that people are paying attention to the news. Always having to cite everything is a waste of time. I rarely click on links and if I want to check anything I know how to google what I need to find. Or am I supposed to assume everybody else can't perform a simple search of the Internet?
