GOOD! They should have lost their job! And if this teller would have done their job properly in the first place, none of this would have happened.

We already have one, it's IDIOT. Works from about puberty till age 25-30 or so.

I wouldn't give a flip. I know my bank is FDIC insured, and my account has extensive fraud and theft protection. I have also had the same bank for AGES, and they know how our numbers look on average all the time; so all it would take is a teller to properly do their job and fix their mistake on my end.

And that is how a bank is SUPPOSED to work.

Fdic insurance doesn't cover this type of thing so I'm not sure why you are applying it here. That like having your car stolen and someone suggesting it's a good thing you have flood insurance on your house for events like this.

Why should he have to pay it back or be punished at all? The bank's the one who screwed up.
You can't be serious...............

You know we have thousands of laws on the books. Only one is needed: THE GOLDEN RULE. How many billion$ could be saved if EVERYONE followed that rule? And the beauty of that rule is that almost every Religion on the planet agrees with it and even MOST Atheists.

Sadly, that has to be spelled out for some people. Even then, they'll still shift the blame

Judging from many of the comments in this thread I'm starting to see why we have so many people locked up.

Integrity and personal responsibility don't seem to be concepts many understand anymore. This kid, and his family, are prime examples of that.

FDIC Insurance isn't there so that some guy can spend money put into his bank account by accident. What is it with people who think that because someone made a mistake that they can walk away with someone else's money?

This guy AND his family are part of the scourge of modern society that thinks anything goes so long as it doesn't happen to them.

I am thrilled the bad seed got punished and got it good. He should have probably gotten something like that long before now and this wouldn't have happened. As it is, he's just following in the footsteps of other undesirables.

Good riddance.

No, it wasn't stupid, it was criminal. There are no "ifs" he spent money that wasn't his to spend. He got caught. He gets convicted. He spends time in prison.

Pretty good outcome.

Simple, because if the teller didn't mess up, the bank would have all of their money and this kid wouldn't be in trouble with the law.

So what punishment does the bank receive for making a mistake?

Isn't possession 9/10ths of the law? Under this "rule" its his money once its in his account, right?
