I was slapped long ago for predicting horse marriages from these people. "It will never happen", the gay-loving bloggers said. Now here they are preparing to shove that in our faces.
You guys wanted to allow religion to not have to follow generally applicable laws. YOU opened that can of worms.
I hear the temple 420 is really looking forward to this law too.
The wording, although probably unintended, of the court opinions for most of the recent marriage law strike-downs also implicitly protects polygamy. I think there will be some interesting challenges regarding polygamy the next few years. I suspect the Supreme Court is waiting to address this issue so that they can very carefully craft their opinion to protect same sex marriage but deny polygamy.

Government should just get out of the marriage business entirely. Let people write wills for who gets their inheritance after they die and write living wills about who makes their medical decisions and call it a day. I'm also sick of paying higher taxes because I'm unmarried, that's discrimination against the unmarried. Let's all pay the same!
Great thread, but the powers that be in 'religious freedom' states will reverse themselves as soon as people start doing some of these things. And I do believe that people will actually try to pull some of these things.
Here are examples of religions:
Christianity - Protestant
Christianity - Catholic/Orthodox
Judaism
Islam
Mormonism
That's it.
Wicca, Buddhism etc are not faiths..they are simply philosophy and people playing dress up and running around in the forest.
They are not subject to religious freedom laws because they aren't religions.
So....Mormonism, which was basically made up by one dude, is a real religion, but Paganism and Buddhism - both of which pre-date all the above religions except for Judaism, btw - aren't real.
Location: Simi Valley, California - which was once part of the USA

Quick Quiz! In what countries did Christianity, Judaism, and Islam originate??????
(Here's a hint - nowhere in Europe or North America)
If that's your criteria for a "real" religion, then Mormonism and the beliefs of American Indians are the only "real" religions in this country.
Try reading some books. I hear there's a lot of good information in those old fashioned things.
