Honestly, I think we need a complete overhaul of some communities. And not by pouring a ton of money into them, but by getting people who are gifted at helping, and understand the problems, to come in and help. If there's going to be money poured into the communities do it through businesses owned by the community, or help existing business owners expand. Something where the responsibility and ownership stays in the community.
90 plus % of the cops are great. The few instances of malfeasance in office cast a black cloud over their heads.
We need to stop the rioters, anarchists and (the not so sharp)tons of this world and let them do their jobs. Ill stand with the cops any day!
In general, the first sentence sounds reasonable. The main problem has been the tendency, almost universal, for the superiors, unions and fellow officers to cover up "criminal acts" by a few bad ones. This, of course, led to the breakdown of trust in the system. And without justice, it is difficult to maintain peace. Just read some histories on societal conflicts, revolutions and wars.
In general, the second sentence is also correct, almost by definition. But generalizing on all "cops" to stand by with simply contradicts what was stated in the first sentence wherein it was acknowledged that not all cops are good. We should only be willing to stand by those cops that are good. Otherwise, we are enabling the few "bad" ones.
When the criminals are more protected than the police, its time to get out of that job. There is no way to do it properly anymore.
The isolated incidents that cause riots are from police misconduct. The Rodney King situation that caused the huge riot in California was a perfect example. If there was no video of Rodney King, they would have gotten away with that behavior and nobody would have believed Rodney. If you want to be a cop, go out and get some bad guys and stop with the "police state" and harassing regular people who are just trying to live their lives.

A lot of police are criminals but they are protected by whites who look the other way. There are many 'socalled" good cops who are criminals (accessories to police brutality) because they don't report the dirty cops.
Just because someone runs, it shouldn't be a death sentence or a reason to beat them once detained.
Just curious. If a known shooter (someone that has a gun, and has shot at someone) resists arrest and takes off....what would you suggest as to how to stop that person from fleeing? Let's say it's just you and them. You would just let them go, right?

If someone is armed and has shot at someone (in the course of this event, not some past incident) Then an officer can use lethal force to stop them, that was decided by the Supreme Court some time ago.
