I know every country has beliefs that may seem strange to outsiders and you can find polls in any country that makes that country look silly...but this seems really absurd.

72% is a strikingly high number.

Icelandic Parliament member Árni Johnsen nearly died in a car accident in 2010 but claims he was saved by a family of elves living in a 30-ton boulder nearby. So, to thank them, he agreed to move their boulder onto his property, where they could live their lives in luxury and not off the side of a highway. True story.
...and Johnsen is reelected while claiming that elves saved his life and live inside a boulder that is now on his property...

I suppose that isn't that far removed from Nancy Pelosi saying that she talks to the ghosts of women's rights leaders and she still gets reelected.

Hey, there's people here and in government positions that believe that the earth is only 6000 years old and people used to dine on dinosaur steaks.

Go figure.

Some people actually believe the Middle East's solutions are as simple as choosing between US political parties.

Most of this country believes in Jesus, Adam and Eve, and Moses parting the Red Sea...so we can't talk.

I'd rather believe in elves.

That is wrong, but it is based on religion, which I think separates itself as less silly from elves.

You don't think in 2015, 72% of a country believing in elves is silly?

And even more people believe countries in the ME actually want "peace".

And 54% of Republicans believe Obama is a Muslim. That's worse Icelanders believing in Elves. At least with Elves, one can argue that they have not been scientifically proven to not exists.
