Like something straight out of "The Twilight Zone", a swirling vortex has opened up in a giant lake on the border of Oklahoma and Texas.

The gaping hole — which appeared recently in Lake Texoma — alarmed everyone from Twitter users to the Tulsa District US Army Corps of Engineers, who posted a
YouTube video of the vortex. Below the video, they describe the hole as being "8 feet in diameter and capable of sucking in a full-sized boat."

They also said it's actually not unusual for this to happen when they pop the drain open. This one's just bigger than usual.

Great video by drone.

not exactly a giant hole, just the Denison dam letting go of some water.

Stranger things have happened

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Peigneur

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddlrGkeOzsI

An oil company drilled a hole into a lake that just happened to have a salt mine under it. The lake drained into the salt mine while sucking down the drilling platform, barges and boats.

My apologies for this not be a current event, but it is interesting.

Wow, that headline is misleading. They opened the floodgates creating a vortex. All very natural and not unheard of, awesome photos.
