Investigators said Staples had placed the fireworks mortar tube on top of his head and set it off. The explosion caused a fatal head injury and he died instantly.

Depending on the size of the mortar, at least a major concussion from the recoil. Maybe his brain was instantly turned into pudding. Or it crushed some vertebrae. Or it tore his head off.

Nearby we had a man jump off a dock where there are signs warning against swimming because of alligators. He had apparently been drinking from witnesses accounts and he jumped in at like 2:00am. He was attacked and killed by a alligator almost immediately.
