Quote:
A motorcycle mama who enjoyed posing provocatively on her beloved Yamaha and joked about driving recklessly lost her leg during a gruesome Brooklyn crash early Saturday, officials said.

Latisa Larrymore, 30, collided with the back of a silver Chrysler minivan around 4:30 a.m. and bounced across the East New York asphalt, slamming into a parked pickup truck, a concrete wall and a telephone pole, police and horrified witnesses said.

“That’s what severed my sister’s leg,” Larrymore’s brother Robert Fields, 34, said, pointing at the destroyed pole on Atlantic Ave. on Saturday afternoon.

Minivan passenger Atiba Bailey, 27, said, “Her one leg was over there and the other was broken.”
“She was just folded up in the fetal position like a baby.”
Larrymore also broke both her arms, several ribs and suffered a brain hemorrhage, but was expected to survive following surgery at Brookdale University Hospital, gratified family members said.
“With or without limbs, the important thing is that she is coming home,” Fields said.

In November, Larrymore, a former bouncer at a Queens nightclub, posted a racy pic of herself lying atop her powder-blue bike on Facebook.

She wore a pair of sexy blue high heels as she lounged back, her long toned legs lying across the handlebars.
In May, she bragged about her need for speed.

“I think I’ll scare you with the way I ride,” she told one Facebook follower.
Larrymore was speeding and zipping in and out of traffic moments before the crash, which began when the minivan turned onto Atlantic Ave. from Ashford St., police said.

“I could see her way back there,” said Bailey. “She cut in front of one car and then cut in front of another and then — boom!”
Larrymore flew off the bike, but somehow ended up getting run over by the minivan before ending up on the side of the road.

“She was just trying to breathe,” Bailey said.
More at link. Considering what she went through it's amazing she's even still alive. But this is what happens when you speed and zig-zag out of traffic, it's bound to catch up with you.

Her helmet was way in front of that van.

When you do stupid things, stupid things happen.

If she derived most of her happiness from reckless, sexy cycling, I sort of doubt she would want to live all torn to pieces the way she is now.

It is surprising that she was able to ride that bike with her terrible back injury from the car accident.

It's difficult to work up sympathy for people who do stupid, reckless things.

ER doctors call motorcyclists "future organ donors." They would know.

I love this part at the end of the article:

"Despite her serious injuries, family members said they’re glad they’ll be able to see her again."

Something about the way its written just sounds wrong.
