Most kids today are too fat anyways, and if they are not eating the food then they are clearly not hungry. As a taxpayer it sounds great to me, close the cafeteria, auction off the equipment, and let the little snots brown bag it

So we as taxpayers should subsidize obesity that we will pay for later, because our kids are too used to junk food 24/7 that won't eat it now that it's healthy?? We should go back to paying for and serving enough sodium, sugar and saturated fat for the day in one meal because they are too spoiled and picky to eat anything that's not deep fried or batter-coated? it's better to pay for their obesity costs later in order to save a couple of lunch ladies' jobs?

Let the kids eat when they get home, then. As a health care worker who sees daily the enormous cost to taxpayers of the obesity and diabetes epidemics, I also say "Thank you, Michelle Obama", only I actually mean it.

When you have Mooch's in the title, I know not to take the thread seriously.

I don't have kids in school, so I'm not worried about what the First Lady is suggesting for school lunches. And if I had kids, I certainly don't want them eating school lunches, regardless of what was there. Too institutionalized for my liking. I think about school lunches from when I was in school and cringe.

I'm always fascinated that some people are so unhinged that they can hate someone just because that someone is a relative or spouse of a politician with which the person disagrees. And the juvenile name-calling. It's weird. And I know this pathetic trend crosses party lines. But I just don't think any more of less of Michelle Obama or the Obama children than I do/did of Laura Bush or the Bush children.

I'm sure those spouses/relatives can handle it - they've heard 100x worse, of course. But I'd be embarrassed to be demonstrating such child-like behavior myself. And even if I was bereft of such shame, I'd still be fully aware that such insipid behavior hurts, not helps, my partisan cause. I guess some people have impulse-control issues.
