Don't see what the issue is. Menstruation is going to happen to every girl who reaches adulthood, barring some kind of medical problem. They might as well know about it ahead of time.
I'm not one of those who think periods should be celebrated or flaunted, but they are a fact of life for most women until menopause.
And little girls need this because previous centuries of women having their periods and knowing how to deal with it or how it presents isn't sufficient?!?
