Following his arrest, Day told officers he was having trouble breathing and they called an ambulance.
Medical staff determined he could be transported to the city's Arrestee Processing Center, but while in the back of a jail wagon, he complained of breathing problems again, The Associated Press reported.

Day's condition deteriorated rapidly and, despite attempts to save his life, he passed away,
This incident is so dissimilar, I do not see how you could conflate the two. The guy selling cigarettes in NY was unarmed. Granted he resisted arrest and was a big guy, but after arrest he was asking for help, and both the cops and EMS didn't do anything pro-active to see if he was in genuine distress. At best it was callous indifference assuming another arrested suspect was claiming brutality. At worst it was disregard for human life, especially on the part of the EMS personnel who are paid to rescue people.
In this incident you have someone who is armed with a gun, supposedly gave up without physical assault, and then when saying he was having trouble breathing, had an ambulance respond. He supposedly died while receiving at least BLS care if not ALS care by the ambulance crew.
So "Shanika" seems to think this is another incident when she says something akin to, fine arrest him, but let him live.

Yes,
I do see the differences. Although armed, he did give up . So theres only a few possibilities that happened. Either the police did mis-handle the situation and cause this death. Or possibly, he could have swallowed some drugs to prevent getting more charges?

Or possibly, his being obese contributed to his breathing problems.
