It is hard to do better than Waffle House. Cheap good food.

If they have a policy against guns he should have complied or eaten elsewhere.

Policies and rules are just that. Not only military as per DoD policy above but also waffle house policy, only exception is law enforcement.

Sorry but no sympathy from me.
Same here. The restaurant has every right to dictate policy regarding firearms, especially openly carried firearms (within the confines of state and federal law).

This guy wasn't a uniformed peace officer. Also...I don't have a whole lot of experience with uniformed military personnel since we have so few of them in north Texas, but I've never seen one openly carrying a holstered pistol.

According to the article, the chain bans firearms except for law enforcement. Members of the US military don't count as "law enforcement" as far as I know.

So...no sympathy from me either.

He could have put his gun in the car, come back in, and eaten. They didn't outright refuse to serve him; he chose to leave. Big difference.

You don't leave a weapon in a car in particular if someone knows you just put it there. That's how they get stolen. Carrying a gun is a huge responsibility, it's actually a PITA... sometimes literally.

Waffle House is entitled to their no gun policy but if they are going to be refusing service to armed military personnel then let the whole world know.

Couldn't give a **** about this. Serving in the military doesn't give you a free pass to get the rest of the world to kiss your arse. You sign up, you serve and you get paid for it. No one owes you anything beyond that.

Why would this guy need to carry a sidearm? I see military personnel in restaurants all the time, I have never seen one armed. IMO he should have left his gun at home.

Waffle House isn't public space, it's private property. They say no guns, it means no guns.
It's either private property or not. They can either deny a constitutional right or not. Explain to me why they have the "right" to deny this constitutional right to bear arms, yet MUST serve someone even though it goes against the company's constitutional right to practice their religion freely.

You liberals crack me up. Funny, you DON'T think the restaurant would have a right to dictate policy and refuse to make wedding cakes for a gay couple. Ah, the hypocrisy......

Another government leech who thinks he's a national hero and should be treated like a demigod.

Maybe someone should open a fast food chain where they not only get free food but the employees wash and kiss their feet.
