The gunman who shot dead a police staffer was a 15-year-old who had visited a mosque on his way to commit murder. He shouted religious slogans before firing one shot in the back of the head of the police officer. The gunman also was killed. He was a naturalised Australian of Iraqi-Kurdish background. This incident happened in a western suburb of Sydney, in Parramatta.

NSW Police commissioner Andrew Scipione: Attack was ‘politically motivated and therefore linked to terrorism’.

Shootings happen here, but somehow, international media ignores them. Maybe it's because we're at the other side of the world, I don't know?

Heck, two people in my hometown, you can call them friends of friends, have been shot dead. One was a 18 year old, who was involved in gangs and drugs, and the other was in his 30s (he was shot accidentally in a drive-by shooting).

I'm guessing in the US they're just more frequent.

This is all B.S.. Australia banned guns years ago. It's all a gun-free zone so there can't be any shooting occurring. (sarc.)

But that's unpossible! Australia is a gun-free zone! Plus, I hear that Isam is just a misunderstood religion of peace.

The numbers are about 11,500 to 40; USA to Australia.

And we really kick your arse in suicide by gun.

Because as most of us know, a ban on guns only stops law abiding citizens from having guns.
THAT is precisely why we fight so hard against those who seemingly can't see the obvious.

We are repeatedly told how great the ban has worked in Australia.
Yet, obviously, those who are intent on doing harm have shown the ability to gain access to them.
