Everything causes cancer. Literally. Theres hundreds of listed carcinogens, including the Sun. Just need to do things in moderation.

I thought it was already obvious to not overdue it with red meats?...

You're right. It's not news.

The WHO is late to the party, and Vitamin C has been added to bacon in the U.S. for over 40 years. Burned protein isn't healthful, but in moderation.....

That said, I wonder if that 105-year-old (that age a couple of years ago) is still alive. I remember the story in which she credited daily bacon for her longevity. She had outlived more than a few of her doctors.

Interesting you mention that. One of my grandfathers used to eat a lot of fatty meat and had slab bacon practically every morning. Lived to be a healthy 88. BUT, he worked a hard physical day up until he was well over 70, and I imagine that made a difference.

One of my brothers uses "Smart Balance" … but I prefer to do my own mixing/matching ...

I did some more reading and it's not ALL processed meats. For instance, in you make sausage at home it would still be processed but when it's made commercially they add all this junk instead of the good stuff you would use at home. THAT'S what they're talking about when they say "processed." It's all the commercial additives.

Also, smoked meats are carcinogenic as well as burned meat, but most people already know that. If you BBQ a lot, that's not healthy. They also said salted meats, but I don't understand why. (anyone know?) Would that be like corned beef?

As far as red meat, that's confusing. What type of red meat did they use? Traditional grass fed beef? Or beef that's been raised on grains that have been treated with some sort of junk?

They need to be more specific as to what sort of meat they used in the testing.

Actually, WHO is simply agreeing with what doctors have been saying for years. I suppose now all doctors are liberal sensationalists who are not to be trusted.

"and unprocessed red meat is 'probably carcinogenic"

"Probably"? Either it does, or it doesn't. I don't eat much processed meat, but no way in heck am I giving up my steaks. We all have to go sometime.

Just eat a sensible moderate balanced varied diet … get in some exercise … enjoy your life … and eventually, you WILL still die anyway, if not from *something* ... then from *nothing*at*all* … but you will eventually die …

As for me, I intend to die with multiple interesting good tastes in my mouth …
