Doesn't matter the numbers. Too many bad cops are slipping in or going bad due to associating with criminals for years on end.

When you read the article it includes prison guards. It also includes having intercourse on duty. No I don't condone knocking boots while in the job but that is far from raping someone isn't it? Just another story trying to portray cops in a negative light. Lastly any cop or civilian for that matter who intentionally hurts a woman sexually should have their nuts cut off. They are not a cop they are a perp!!!

84767 rapes in the USA in 2010 and the cop haters bring up this utter nonsense?

Do they care about the other 83,767 rapes?
No.

The rate of rapes in the USA among the population? About. 0282 For Law enforcement? . 0166.

The article also states that there are many, many instances when the victim does not report the crime.

And true of population in general.

Quantify "many many" or it means nothing.

You have a point?

Yep.

Per the article:

"It's happening probably in every law enforcement agency across the country," said Chief Bernadette DiPino of the Sarasota Police Department in Florida, who helped study the problem for the International Association of Chiefs of Police. "It's so underreported and people are scared that if they call and complain about a police officer, they think every other police officer is going to be then out to get them."

That's a Police Chief's assessment.

Scary stuff.

They are now lowering the qualifying standards to be an officer to HS graduate or GED. Expect this problem to get worse.

I suspect this says more about men, particularly those in power, than it says about Law Enforcement Officers. Sorry about that, but as a woman I can tell you stories about college deans and professors, ministers, lawyers and doctors that would make many men disbelieve my honesty while a lot of women would nod in consent.
