From the video, and an article I read, it seems he jumped onto a life boat (or maybe just jumped and happened to land on it), held onto the side of it for dear life, then fell. I don't think he was suicidal, maybe in that very moment he was because of alcohol, but I doubt this man was intending to kill himself. He probably just reacted to an argument stupidly, and him trying desperately to hold on shows he didn't want to die. It is sad to watch.

That it is. The ocean is not a good place o act on sudden impulses.

I do think he was likely trying to kill himself. You just cannot "fall" over one of those railings. Especially Oasis of the Seas. It is thoroughly modern in every sense.
As to him desperately trying to hold on, well, the few people who have survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, reported regretting the decision the instant their feet left the deck. I'm certain if they were lucky enough to catch their foot on something and not fall, but dangle 220 ft above the strait, they would be screaming to be saved, as well.

If he was trying to kill himself, I believe it was a very quick decision. I doubt he was a suicidal person. I think something probably happened, whether it was an argument with the crew or his family or friends or anyone else, and I believe he was also probably drunk, and these two combined made him do something crazy and stupid. Plenty of really, really dumb decisions are made on alcohol. Plenty of people do something stupid that leads to their death when they never intended or wanted to die. In the moment, though, it was probably on purpose.
