VA can't afford drug for veterans suffering from hepatitis C - CBS News

I can see the challenge to the government scientist and perhaps the concerns about the conflict of interest. Some will say he shouldn't be in a position to make so much money working for a private company while employed by the US government.

EXCEPT, the Clintons became multimillionaires while Bill was President. What is good for them is good for everyone else. While this involves a cure for a deadly disease, either make it okay for everyone or not ok for everyone, including those who leverage their elected office to become wealthy.

There are patient assistance plans for these drugs:

Treatment | Financial Assistance

However, these veterans need to be treated at government expense, since it seems clear that the disease is service connected.

I've been seeing those ads on TV for this Hep C cure constantly for weeks. Of course no mention of the cost, reading this was mind blowing. Holy cow. My thought, with many of these drug companies, is how much money they are spending on advertising...dangling a carrot in front of people suffering.
