Saudi Arabia to build world's tallest building 1km tall - CNN.com

That's 3,280 feet high. 1 World Trade Center is only 1,776 feet high. The erstwhile Sears Tower (now Willis Tower) is 1,450 feet high. What do y'all think?

LOL, all the money in the world to build enormous buildings they can't fill, but no money to care for their fellow arab refugees.

We need to quit shoveling money at them for their bloody oil. If this egregious waste of cash isn't more proof that we need to get off oil and get out of that hell hole of a region, then I don't know what else would be.

All that showboating, and no money or desire to help take in their fellow Muslim refugees from Syria? Seems legit.

Saudi Arabia has so much money flowing out from the ground in the form of oil that they don't know what to do with it other than fund terrorism and build unnecessary crap.

In anticipation of the eventual depletion of their oil reserve (and prevalence of alternative fuel sources), Saudi Arabia has been building up tourist attractions in Dubai and elsewhere to transition to an international tourist destination (don't ask). Kinda like how they tried to make Vegas into a family destination.

So, this is probably consistent with that strategy. Hey, no one said they can't house gazillion Syrian refugees in this tower!! lol

Public beheadings of apostates, blasphemers, homosexuals, etc., the sadistic tourists would get a thrill out of it.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. This is just a way to compensate for being one of the smaller on an international scale.

A one-kilometer-high skyscraper, erected by Third World slaves (excuse me, "guest workers") for one of the most repressive regimes in the world? What could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, they try to "shoehorn" Las Vegas into a country that considers women driving to be sin

I don't care what they build. I'm not going to some Muslim theocracy where I'd risk being thrown in prison.
