IMAGES: What we know about Rachelle Bond and Bella - Boston News, Weather, Sports | FOX 25 | MyFoxBoston

The mother is Rachelle Bond. Of course DCF was called on her several times but the cases were all closed. She lost custody of her other 2 children. Boyfriend is Michael McCarthy, not the baby's father but a junkie nevertheless.

How sad.

They just found a baby skeleton here too and are trying to figure out how it died and who left it. It was at a rental house so I guess there are dozens and dozens of people who lived there that they have to check out. I do not understand how someone could fail to take care of their baby or even to kill it. Unthinkable.

Sometimes I think having an unmarried mother with a boyfriend ought to be listed as the greatest risk factor for a young child dying a violent death - because it sure seems like it is.

They just found a toddler's body in a lagoon not too far away from where I live here in Chicago. It looks like the the mother of this poor little girl didn't live too far away from my cousin (she posted something to her FB a day or so ago about heavy police presence on her block but didn't know it was related to this case)

The MA DCF has had a lot of high profile cases where children they should have been checking up on have either died or been horribly abused. Too many kids are dying under their watch

Poor little Bella. I'm glad they finally found out who she was.

I can see a resemblance between the "missing child" picture and Bella's real picture. I would never have realized they were the same child. Someone did a lot of leg work to solve this.

They are actually very human. We tend to give ourselves far too much credit than our species actually deserves.

Animals kill for food and survival.

Don't call these two animals.

It's sadly another case of a woman who puts her needs, before the safety of her children.

In most of these cases it is the single mom's boyfriend who killed the child.

And shame on DCF in Boston, who removed two other children from this home in the past.

This poor baby.
